Lassana Kanda means ‘beautiful hill’ and in every sense this moniker rings true. The villa’s location – a gloriously tranquil position on a hillside overlooking a valley of palm-edged rice fields, around 15-minutes inland from Galle – is quite stunning. The gorgeous, extensive gardens that wrap around the villa are a work of art and the wide infinity swimming pool is breathtaking – floating on your back under a ceiling of sparkling stars whilst watching luminous green fireflies flit between coconut palms is magical. The villa – actually a trio of three separate constructions – has been built to the highest standards and features teak floorboards, hand-carved fretwork and an enviable collection of Sri Lankan antiques.
Space is the ultimate luxury here, closely followed by abundant facilities. The villa offers seven bedrooms spread across three buildings – four in the main house, a further two in a quirky guest house and one in a building below the pool (ironically entitled ‘UP’, meaning ‘under pool’). Balconies, terraces and lawns add to the plentiful living spaces – each building has its own lounge and options for dining are many. There’s a TV Room in the main house, and UP also has a huge entertainment room with a home theatre system, table tennis and shelves brimming with kids toys and games. An air-conditioned gym and massage/spa room complete the villa’s impressive facilities.
Lassana Kanda comes with an efficient staff team, including an excellent cook who will prepare a variety of world cuisines (groceries on guest account). The villa’s location is blissfully secluded, however you can easily explore the local village of Heenatigala on foot or nip to Galle or one of the nearby beaches.

“We spent a fantastic week at the villa. The staff are fantastic, the pool and views from the villa are unbeatable and Sharluka's cooking rivals the best I have had in London. I highly recommend the villa and look forward to going back there myself! ”
