The south coast of Sri Lanka is renowned not only for being fabulously picturesque, but also for its refreshingly serene atmosphere. Kadju House exhibits these characteristics well since its laid-back atmosphere invites relaxation whilst its location on the side of a jungly hill in the secluded village of Seenimodera overlooking the ocean greatly enhances its appeal. Innovative, modern and minimalist, Kadju House was designed not only to offer serenity to its guests but also to connect them with the outdoors; open-air showers, deep sea-view baths and lotus-topped ponds allow you to get close to nature without impacting on comfort. Panoramic views of the ocean, verdant jungle or landscaped garden are framed from every angle whilst the constant melody of birdsong can be heard from dawn until dusk.
The first floor of the villa is perhaps where you will spend much of your time. Boasting superb sea-views, the elongated infinity swimming pool lies just footsteps from an airy lounge, making cooling dips at any time of the sun-drenched day or star-filled night irresistible. An iPod docking station, surround-sound speakers and an open-air bar make this a great spot to chill out and enjoy some quality time with loved ones or good friends. There are no TVs or phones here (there is internet) making the villa feel like a true escape.
Kadju House is staffed by a small team, including three very efficient houseboys and an experienced cook (food at cost price on guest account), who take care of the house and its guests. A dining table is located on the ground floor, however nothing is too much trouble for the staff and a table can be arranged upstairs, in the garden, or even on the beach for an extra special occasion. Kadju House’s rejuvenating ambiance is accentuated by its own cinnamon-walled spa, which specialises in Ayurvedic treatments. The villa also makes a great base to explore the region’s beaches, wildlife parks and Buddhist temples.
